Whip! Whip! Steam Game Developer Interview With Alpha unit

We recently came across a game titled Whip! Whip! that was launched on 28th June, 2018 on Steam platform and got in touch with the developer of this interesting game. Here is our interview with the developer of Whip! Whip! game where they talk about this game along with some interesting aspects of game development:

1. Tell us a bit about your game and what was it that inspired you to make this game?

This game is a single screen action game like the 1980s arcade game where players throw gloves and grab enemies and rush attacks on it. In the making of this game, I think many inspirations were brought by Bubble Bobble and many single screen actions.

2. Naming a game is almost always one of the most difficult tasks since that’s what people identify it with. Was this name the first choice for the name? If not then what were some other options you were looking at?

Whip! Whip! is the name chosen at the end of the discussion. The naming was done by the entire team, and until then, we had several suggested names. I suggested that “Sugar trek”, but unfortunately it was not chosen this time. For other name,I would like to keep secret.

3. What sort of thought process went behind the artwork of this game?

In the process of making a game, “action with gloves” and “plot of Sweets” became the key. The ideas associated with them have also been applied to artwork.
In addition, the adoption of the 8-bit style, I thought the user to convey the concept of the game at a glance.

4. What was the major challenge in developing this game?

It was a common understanding. Because young staffs of the team did not know the bubble bobble.

5. Any in-game secrets that could be easter eggs for players to discover?

For hidden items in the game, “Bubble Bobble” will be helpful. And this game can play with infinite health. Like “super shinobi”.

6. Why do you consider Steam as a platform for your game and is there any other platform you look forward to get your game onto?

I think Steam has a users who likes classic games. And if this is going to be an arcade game, that would be great. Other platform are Nintendo Switch.

7. How much time did it take to get this game developed and what can players expect in updates for this game?

It took 5 months to complete. We’d love to update, but to make it happen we have to sell this game more than now.

8. What are your future plans as a game developer?

This time I was dating fans of old games, but the next time I would like to make something that everyone can enjoy. Of course it’s not easy, it’s a very challenging game.

9. How long have you been developing games and what is the most enjoyable aspect of game development according to you?

In today’s game industry, games are becoming more complicated and high-tech. So, we developed a game like Whip! Whip!. It was very enjoyable for me.
