The idea for Spirit Animal Survival came about our love and passion for animals. We introduce elements into our survival that have never been seen before.

In this game, the fight against evil will uncover your Spirit Animal Abilities, which will make you morph into one of 11 Spirit Animals with very specific abilities. During the development of Spirit Animal Survival, it became clear to us that SAS was becoming a survival RPG with elements knows from games such as World of Warcraft.

In Spirit Animal Survival you will face not only various animals and dinos, but also monster creatures which you have to cleanse the world from. Currently, we have the following game elements PVP and PVE, Crafting, Housing, Harvesting, Farming, Boss Fights, Fishing, Instances, Taming and Mating.

2. Naming a game is almost always one of the most difficult tasks since that’s what people identify it with. Was this name the first choice for the name? If not then what were some other options you were looking at?

We actually built the game around its name. Once research and the story for SAS were written, this title came easily and we felt it was the perfect fit for our game.

3. What sort of thought process went behind the artwork of this game?

We submerged ourselves in research. The ancient lore of the indigenous peoples of North America is as varied and far-reaching as the continent itself. That’s why SAS is loosely versed in native lore. Each craftable item is not just given a random name. The research was done to uncover what various Native American tribes called their structures, food, clothing, weapons etc. players will recognize this incorporated into the game. Native tales which are populated by horrifying spirits, ghosts, witches, demons, and monsters. We uncovered a few of the most terrifying Native American Legends and incorporated them into the game. Our extensive research, lead to the artistic inspiration found thorough out SAS.

4. What was the major challenge in developing this game?

Our biggest challenge was never having enough hours in a day. Being such a small team, our days are packed with tasks and assignments. On several occasions, a work day can turn into work days, with little to no sleep. Finding a good work/life balance can be challenging at times.

5. Any in-game secrets that could be easter eggs for players to discover?

You’ll have to play the game to find that out 😉 But yes, there are plenty of easter eggs to be discovered.

6. Why do you consider Steam as a platform for your game and is there any other platform you look forward to get your game onto?

Steam is a great platform because it is the go-to place for gamers. Steam offers everything to their customers all under one site. As a developer, they have a great team who is always there to provide assistance, whenever it’s needed. True Illusion Software Inc. is a licensed developer for both Microsoft and Sony. We are currently in the process of getting SAS released on both console platforms.

7. How much time did it take to get this game developed and what can players expect in updates for this game?

It has taken us approximately 3 years to develop SAS. The game was released on 06/06/18 and we have since then released several updates and patches. We will continue to do so until the game is completed. We are estimating the game to be completed with a years time of its release on Early Access. Upon completion, there will be 11 Instance Boss fights, 11 Islands all different biomes. And 11 Spirit Animals with special abilities. All of these 11 Spirit Animals along with their special abilities will be required to take down The Dark Lord. Once this is done, you will have freed your tribe and restored harmony amongst the universe and the relationship between person and animal.

8. What are your future plans as a game developer?

My personal plans, are to continue to develop games of several different genres. And, to work internationally with fellow developers and our communities to further create fun games for everyone.

9. How long have you been developing games and what is the most enjoyable aspect of game development according to you?

I have been developing games professionally for approximately 10 years now. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Game Art and Design as well as a degree in Business Management. My specific role for this title is being the 3D artist. Job duties include the original creation of animation and graphics, using both illustration and computer programs. I am also responsible for all in-game audio and sound effects and marketing. I don’t have a specific area of preference, I truly love every aspect of my job. I love how every day I’m exposed to new challenges, tools, and people.

I must say though, it is quite amazing to see something begin as a story and years later after countless hours of work, to see you project transform into something that people around the world get involved with and play. That to me is the best part of game development and the most rewarding. To watch other players have fun and play your game for hours on end…when they are mesmerized and in awe of something you personally created. It’s very cool indeed.

10. What are your personal favourite games?

World of Warcraft, GTA series, Far Cry, Arma, FPS, RPG’s, MMO’s
